Well, it seems that we'll be staying here for Christmas instead of journeying down to Salem. We've been in contact with a couple friends who have been driving down to Salem today, and it just doesn't sound like a pleasant trip. ODOT closed part of I-5 south of Portland so they could remove snow from the freeway, and the tailbacks are nasty. Not that we would have been able to even make it to the freeway from our house without chains (and when we walked to Freddies today, we saw that the line at Les Schwab was long). So we shall just stay here and spend Christmas Eve with the cat and the Doctor (Doctor Who Season 4 Disc 2 arrived today and Disc 3 will be here manana).
Speaking of which, if any of you are suffering from the holiday blues, here's a link to brighten your evening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzqiJO8s fn4 David Tennant dancing to "These Boots Are Made For Walking." Thanks to http://io9.com/ for the related link that made me giggle enough to go searching for this video.
So yeah, the snow is still here. Haven't gone out to measure today because we haven't received any new snow, but it's still there, clinging to branches, blanketing the ground, and packed solid on our neighborhood streets. It's still surreal to wake up to that much snow...and it's been here since Thursday. The snow on the roof is slowly melting and creating some terrific icicles, especially in back where we don't have gutter downspouts. Those are almost 3 feet long.
Anyway, so that's the snow report. Time to work on some writing, maybe "Nullum Desiderium," maybe a short story, maybe I'll mess around with Celtx's screenwriting templates in anticipation of Script Frenzy in April. http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/ I know, April's a ways off, but if I'm gonna have any chance of writing a 100 pg. screenplay in 30 days, I'd better know how the program works beforehand, eh?
