Coming in a close second is the scent of fresh bread. Breathe in. Can you smell it? The bread machine will go beep beep beep in 15 minutes and we shall have hot bread to go with our thawed and warmed vegetable soup. True, it's not quite like baking bread by hand, but the scent is still there and it does taste good, especially when one has a cold, as I do.
