debate recovery

So I was a good person last night and finally watched a presidential candidate debate. I Twittered a bit of it and made a few choice comments to the cat, but I was glad when it was over. I think it was Obama who said we've all become cynical, and he's right (about that and a good number of other things). I know I'm pretty damn cynical when it comes to politics. That's why this has been the only debate I watched. I shall have to seek out videos of the vice-pres. candidates elsewhere, though I doubt I will be able to watch Palin without imbibing some alcohol first.

Needless to say, I felt the need to recover from both the debate and my recap of it to Russ when he got home from work, so we watched some live video footage of Led Zeppelin from the early 1970s. 'Twas a pleasant distraction, watching Robert Plant and his mane of strawberry blonde hair wail/moan/cry "Since I've Been Loving You," with John Bonham, master of the drums, and Jimmy Page, the guitar god playing like it's as easy as breathing. John Paul Jones, I'm sorry to say, is forgettable compared to the other three. Still, good stuff.

Tonight is Poetry Night at Soul Food Books, 7pm, so I'd best get some poems ready to read. Will I actually read something more than 3 lines long, or will I fall back upon my haiku/senryu? You'll have to show up to find out!
